Saturday 4th June 1977
Share Appeal Day
On 4th June 1977 PS Schiller sailed from Lucerne to Flüelen (non-stop). She returned home calling at almost all the piers with a reasonably sized community and the cruise was broadcast by Swiss radio on a popular Saturday morning programme.
The SGV has decided to issue new shares to build a new shipyard-building and the society of steamer friends encouraged its members to buy as many shares as possible.
When the PS Schiller returned home at lunch time shares worth more than 2.5 million Swiss Francs were signed. All in all shares of the value of 4.8 million Swiss Francs were issued. As a result the Steamer Friends represented a majority of shareholders and the SGV management had to abandon its anti-steam policy.
