HISTORY of SAILINGS

General PS Lötschberg has normally operated sailings 63-64-69-70 (i.e. departures from Interlaken Ost at approximately 1130 and 1430) on the days when the paddle steamer was in service
- over the years, the actual departure times, calling points, dates and sailing numbers have varied (see Archive Index for further details)
 
2008 Details will be posted at the end of the season

2007 The season started on Sunday 3rd June and operated the 'traditional' two traditional round trips from Interlaken to Brienz at the slightly retimed departures of 1116 and 1425
  For the first time there were no paddle steamer sailings on Mondays - the regular sailings were cover by a motor vessel
  Owing to abnormally high lake levels following exceptionally heavy rain all sailings on the lake were suspended from Thursday 9th August to Saturday 11th August inclusive
Sailungs by motor vessels recommenced on Sunday 12th August and PS Lötschberg returned to service the following Tuesday (14th August)
  Sailings finished on Sunday 9th September
 
2006 The season started much later than usual on Sunday 4th June and operated the usual two traditional round trips from Interlaken to Brienz
  Sailings finished earlier than usual on Sunday 10th September
 
2005 The season started on Sunday 8th May and the regular timetabled departures were advanced by up to approx 30 minutes to maintain train connections following the complete re-cast of services by the SBB
  On Monday 11th July the paddle steamer made a very rare early start at 0910 which involved her calling at additional piers for her
Her 'traditional sailings' were covered by a motor vessel
  Sailings were brought to an abrupt halt on Tuesday 23rd August when an abnormally high lake level following exceptionally heavy rain forced the cancellation of all sailings on the lake
The paddle steamer only made one further apprerance on Saturday 24th September for a redated Jazz Cruise
 
2004 The season started slightly earlier in time for the local Mothers Day with sailings 63-64-69-70 on Sunday 9th May
  The paddle steamer celebrated her 90th birthday with a special evening parade along with the fifty year old mv Jungfrau on Saturday 3rd July
  Sailings finished on Sunday 19th September
 
2003 A shorter season with sailings 63-64-69-70 only commencing on Sunday 25th May
  Sailings finished on Sunday 21st September
 
2002 Sailings 63-64-69-70 commenced on the traditional Swiss Navigation Day
on Sunday 28th April
  Sailings finished on Sunday 22nd September
 
2001 Sailings 63-64-69-70 commenced much later than usual on Sunday 24th June following the major re-build over the previous winter
The timing schedule was slightly slower than previously
  Timetabled sailings finished later than 2000 on Sunday 23rd September
  The paddle steamer ended the season one week later with a special four hour cultural and culinary cruise
 
2000 Sailings 63-64-69-70 commenced earlier than usual on 30th April - Swiss Navigation Day
It was many years since a paddle steamer operated timetabled services on Lake Brienz during April
  Sailings finished early on the 10th September to enable work to start on a major re-build, including a new boiler
 
1999 Sailings commenced at the start of May
  Sailings finished earlier than usual at the end of September
 
1998 Sailings continued to the first Sunday in October
 
1996 Special evening cruises from Interlaken to Brienz for inclusive trip to Mount Rothorn withdrwan
 
1995 Special evening cruises from Interlaken to Brienz for inclusive trip to Mount Rothorn now reduced to two and operated on Saturdays
 
1994 Three special Tuesday evening cruises operated from Interlaken to Brienz for inclusive trip to Mount Rothorn
  Sailings continued to the first Sunday in October
