LAKE GENEVA

Advance Information 2011

Unfortunately MPV Vevey was withdrawn from service on Thursday 30th September 2010
and has now joined her sisters MPV Italie and MPV Helvétie at Lausanne-Ouchy harbour
awaiting finance for a major re-build
- locally there is strong pressure from certain politicians to save money
but hopefully that will be resolved before too long
This means the ship stabled overnight at Le Bouveret will now be a conventional motor vessel
to cover the upper Lake "Circle sailings

On the other hand PS Simplon has nearly completed her major re-build
and should be back in service again in 2011

There are also political arguments about the level of subsidies for the various services
which MAY result in further econmies nearer the time
but the following should give some idea of basically what to expect - as least in the peak season.......
(confirmed timings and some intermediate calling points to follow)

With the withdrawal of mv Chablais midway thrugh the Summer 2010 season
there is no longer be a "stand-by" medium sized motor vessel available
so watch out for more paddle steamer sailings in June and September compared to previous years,
especially when there is a private charter
