The large PS La Suisse is planned to be taken out of service between Autumn 2007 and Spring 2009 for a major overhaul This will leave only four paddle steamers and one motor paddle vessel throughout 2008 to cover the six basic 'paddle' rosters of 2007 There is speculation as to whether the other large operational steamer PS Simplon will take over the 1000 "mini-Grand Race" from Geneva to Vevey and return or if this sailing will be covered by the smaller PS Rhône which operated the full-length Rhône Express sailings in the mid-1990s In either case, one of the current six rosters will have to be covered by a motor vessel or the paddle steamer sailings will have to be (at least partially) recast to reflect the smaller operational fleet Further details to follow when available |
