HISTORY of SAILINGS


General PS Blümlisalp has normally operated one round trip from Thun to Interlaken and back together with a variety of evening sailings on some of the days the paddle steamer was in service
Over the years, the actual departure times, calling points and length of season have varied

2008 Details will be posted at the end of the season (in the interim see 2008 Advance Information  Lake Thun Summary and/or 2008 Timetable Index (for links to individual timetables)
 
2007 Timetabled sailings throughout 2007 were virtually identical to 2006 commencing on Sunday 3rd June and finishing on Sunday 23rd September
  Unusually advertised sailings were replaced by a motor vessel on several dates to allow for private charter sailings which traditionally took place outside the public operating period
All sailings on Lake Thun were suspended due to flooding (excessively high lake level) from Thursday 9th August to Sunday 12th August inclusive and the Friday evening Jazz Cruise was subsequently re-dated to Saturday 15th September
PS Blümlisalp returned to service on Monday 13th August
 
2006 Following a major re-build over the presious winter, the paddle steamer returned to service with two special sailings on Friday 2nd June and Saturday 3rd June
  Timetabled sailings re-commenced on Saturday 4th June and throughout 2006 were the same as 2005
Timetabled sailings finished earlier than usual on Sunday 24th September
 
2005 The regular timetabled departures were advanced by up to approx 45 minutes to maintain train connections following the complete re-cast of services by the SBB
The evening timetabled sailings 125-126 were curtained and only operated between Thun and Merligen
Sailings were brought to an abrupt halt on Tuesday 23rd August when an abnormally high lake level following exceptionally heavy rain forced the cancellation of all sailings on the lake
The paddle steamer was able to return to service on Wednesday 31st August to complete her advertised season
 
2004 Sailings were unchanged from 2003
 
2003 Sailings were unchanged from 2002
 
2002 Sailings were unchanged from 2001
 
2001 Motor vessels took over the Saturday evening non-landing Dance Cruises previously operated by the paddle steamer
  Evening timetabled sailings 127-128 ran additionally on Saturdays, which, along with the usual Tuesdays to Fridays evening sailings, resulted in the paddle steamer operating five evenings per week
 
2000 Sailings 15-16 commenced earlier than usual on 30th April - Swiss Navigation Day
It was many years since a paddle steamer operated timetabled services on Lake Thun during April
 
1999 Mid-week evening sailings 127-128 ran additionally on Fridays and request stops were added at the rarely used Längenschachen pier
  The Summer Saturday evening dance cruise  sailing 129 continued until Saturday 23rd October
 
1992 PS Blümlisalp re-entered service following a major rebuild

For twenty years no paddle steamer sailed on the lake
PS Blümlisalp remained laid-up out of service at Thun
 
1971 PS Blümlisalp, the last remaining paddle steamer on Lake Thun, was withdrawn from service after the end of the summer season
Unfortunately, I do not have any record of the final sailings - can you help ?
 
1835 Sailings first started on Lake Thun using the small PS Bellevue
