will again be out of service
  whilst the two-year major re-build  
continues



In these circumstances, during 2003 the remaining four paddle steamers
are expected to again be based at Luzern and operate similar rosters to 2002
except for the Saturday evening Jubilee "Tell Me" sailing 111
(which are not envisaged to operate again before
PS Schiller reaches 100 years old in 2006 ! )


If you wanted to sail on all five paddle steamers
you should have done so during 2001 !!!
(if not, you will now have to wait until 2004 )


Advance re-timing Information

The following return sailings are to be retimed slightly later
(presumably to improve/maintain train connections)
sailing 12 - 0925 Flüelen to Luzern to start 0927
sailing 1024 - 1425 Flüelen to Luzern to start 1427
sailing 78 - 1430 Alpnachstad to Luzern to start 1432
whilst most of the above sailings are normally operated by motor vessels,
sailing 1024 is the sole weekly sailing to the 'head of the lake' beyond
Flüelen and during 2002 was normally operated by PS Schiller

During the Summer of 2003
the (by then) 101 year old PS Unterwalden
is expected to only operate the Alpnachstad route on weekdays
(during July and August)

On Sundays all four paddle steamers are normally required on the Flüelen route, the fourth roster (usually PS Schiller) being the relief to the
"Wilhelm Tell Express" sailings 1013 and 1024
(this also being the only sailing of the week to extend to the
shallower waters at the head of the lake (Seedorf) beyond Flüelen)

Consequently on Sundays all Alpnachstad sailings will normally be operated by motor vessels


It will not be until the Summer of 2004 at the earliest
when there will again be five paddle steamers in operation
on Lake Luzern
