LAKE   GENEVA   Gales         Strong Winds Once again MPV Vevey rescues the large mv Lausanne Due to strong winds the motor paddle vessel was called upon to operate the weekday Lausanne to Evian-les-Bains 'Ferry Service' from Wednesday 1st to Friday 3rd March 2006 This brings the total number of days that weather has disrupted sailings by mv Lausanne this winter on the weekday Lausanne to Evian-les-Bains ferry service to NINE * On each occasion either MPV Vevey or the now laid-up MPV Italie covered to keep the cross lake life-line going This seriously questioned the proposal to "long-term lay-up" all three motor paddle vessels from the end of the 2006 season Subsequently at the CGN 2006 AGM it was announced that MPV Vevey had been repreived and would continue in service following a "mini-overhaul" * - plus an additional occasion when the motor vessel had an evening charter

For the first time since 1938 the CGN retained a paddle steamer on regular Winter timetabled sailings PS Savoie enjoys the sunshine at the Geneva end of the lake on Saturday 18th November 2006 Oover 70 passengers were aboard the 1605 non-advertised Belles Rives Genevoises cruise 1162 from Geneva
